Need a Clean Work Place? Try the Farr Clean Sweep Accessory

Recent findings by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OHSA) as well as the Environmental  Protection Agency (EPA) established that it was many times impossible to assign a worker the job of sweeping the floor or cleaning off equipment with pressurized air without exposing the worker to harmful levels of airborne particulate.

As a result of these findings it may be recommended (or mandatory in certain cases) that one should purchase an expensive industrial vacuum system for house-keeping purposes.

Burke Sales & Engineering has a solution for localized cleaning utilizing already exisiting dust collection equipment:  The Farr Clean Sweep Acessory!

The Farr Clean Sweep Accessory is a vacuum hose system which uses a pneumatic vacuum pump to draw dust into the dust collector.  The pump is powered by the same compressed air used to clean the filters/bag in the dust collector.  The vacuum pump is outfitted with venturi nozzles which create a high amount of vacuum necessary to clean the local work space.  The system includes all necessary fittings and valves for placement on any dust collector.

The Vortex Valves Mobile Display Unit is Coming to Michigan 9/20-9/21

Vortex Valves is a leading manufacturer of Slide Gates and Diverter valves specifically designed to handle dry solids in both gravity and pneumatic conveying applications up to 15 PSIG.  Once a year they tour Michigan with their Mobile Display Unit in an effort to educate new and existing customers about where their valves fit into many solids handling processes and how to apply them correctly.  This Mobile Display Unit houses every valve manufactured by Vortex, and each valve is fully functional in the Unit.  The MDU is also accompanied by a factory representative from Salina, KS, to answer all design, application, and maintenance questions.

This year the MDU will be here for the dates of September 20th through the 21st.  Please contact John Burke or Brandon Dohn to make an appointment, or you can email us at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. By PlasticsToday Staff
Published: June 2nd, 2010

Spiroflow Systems (Monroe, NC) has boosted its bulk materials handling equipment portfolio and sales reach with the acquisition of fellow bulk material handling technology supplier, Dynamet Conveyors (Kalamazoo, MI). Dynamet's powder-handling product slate includes tubular drag-chain conveyors, flexible-screw conveyors, bulk-bag unloaders, manual dump-bag stations, and pneumatic tilt tables for a variety of industries including food, chemical, pharmaceutical, packaging, and plastics. Spiroflow says the acquisition of the 30-year-old Dynamet expands its equipment and in-house experience so that it now has largest selection of powder handling equipment in the industry.

A supplier of standard and custom powder-handling equipment, Spiroflow specializes in bulk bag dischargers and fillers; mechanical, flexible, and pneumatic conveyors; bag-packing equipment; and flexible storage silos. On its web site, the company says in addition to conveying, it offers weighing systems, with the ability to handle dry bulk solids and ingredients in powder, granule, pellet, and flake form. Both companies also offer discharge, dump/unload, and filling products. Dynamet has dealt with a range of materials of varying densities, including fine powders, crystals, flakes, sludges, slurries, and metal powders. In addition to its headquarters outside Charlotte, Spiroflow maintains an office in Clitheroe, Lancashire, England.
